Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź

The Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź is housed in a historic complex of Classicist buildings known as the White Factory, erected between 1835 and 1839. Łódź was the capital of the Polish textile industry.

History

The White Factory was the works of Ludwik Geyer - it had the first mechanical spinning mill, weaving mill and fabric printing works in Łódź, powered by the first steam engine in the city. The site is a testimony to the industrial revolution in Łódź.
