Water tower in Białowieża

The water tower at the former Białowieża Towarowa station is one of the few well-preserved structures of this type in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. It is part of the complex of the historic railway station that once served the Tsar's palace in Białowieża.

History

The tower was erected around 1903 as part of the Białowieża Towarowa station - an auxiliary facility supporting the operation of the no-longer-existing Białowieża Pałac station (built in 1897). The tower was designed on an octagonal plan as a three-storey building of yellow brick, covered with a multi-pitched roof with a finial.

What to see

A characteristic brick water tower - a testament to the Tsarist railway infrastructure in the Białowieża Forest.
