Fish Market in Bydgoszcz

The Fish Market (Rybi Rynek) is one of the oldest places in Bydgoszcz, dating back to the town's founding in 1346. In the Middle Ages it was called Rybaki, and in the 19th century the Fish Market - for centuries a place of trade in fresh and salted fish.

Location and surroundings

A square within the Old Town on the Brda River, in the northern part of the old quarter, between Grodzka Street and the riverbank.

What's on offer

Fish sales were moved to the market hall in 1906; today café barges and a water tram wharf are moored by the square, and cyclical events take place throughout the year, including a winter fair as well as the Fish and Local Produce Market of the "Niech Cię Zakole" culinary trail.
