Market Hall in Radom

One of the first market halls in Poland, erected in 1898 to a design by the city architect August Załuski. At the time of its opening it was regarded as the most modern of its kind in the country.

Architecture

A three-storey building with a basement, of basilica layout with three naves and five entrances. Originally it housed, among others, 16 meat stalls with access to running water.

Monument status

Entered into the register of monuments (reg. no. 158/A/82 of 18 March 1982 and of 16 July 1993).

Function then and now

It served as a market hall until 1948, then as a department store. After privatisation (1995) and renovation, its original architectural qualities were restored. In 2023, the Food Hall Focha 15 - the first food hall in Radom - was opened here.
