Karczma u Wnuka Restaurant

The oldest restaurant in Zakopane, operating since 1870. It is housed in a historic building erected around 1850 by Józef Krzeptowski, brother of the famous storyteller Sabała - it was the first two-storey house in the Podhale region. The restaurant was founded when Krzeptowski's granddaughter married Jan Wnuk, a restaurateur from Lviv with experience gained in Parisian kitchens.

Cuisine

The specialities are traditional Highlander dishes: kwaśnica with potatoes and smoked ribs, moskol (a pancake made of boiled potatoes), homemade pierogi and lamb shank braised in vegetables. The interiors are decorated with historic elements, and the atmosphere is enriched by a Highlander band.
