Knyszyn Forest

The Knyszyn Forest is a vast forest complex on the Białystok Upland, the second largest in Podlasie after the Białowieża Forest. Its values are protected by the Knyszyn Forest Landscape Park (established in 1988, area about 74,447 ha).

Location and surroundings

It lies between Białystok, Supraśl and Krynki, covering the land of seven forest districts.

Natural values

The pride of the forest is the red deer; it is also home to the European bison, elk, wolf, lynx, as well as more than 150 species of birds (including the black stork, crane, lesser spotted eagle and capercaillie).
