Spała Forests (Pilica Wilderness)

The Spała Forests (Lasy Spalskie) are a woodland complex in the Tomaszów district of the Łódź Voivodeship, a relic of the former Pilica Wilderness. The most valuable fragments lie on the left bank of the Pilica, east of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, and cover approx. 9,000 ha.

Location and surroundings

The tourist centre is the former hunting settlement of Spała on the Pilica, once a presidential residence.

Natural attractions

Pine stands dominate, in places with impressive old pine-oak growth. The area is covered by the Spała Landscape Park, within whose boundaries lie the Spała, Gać Spalska and Konewka nature reserves.
