Niepołomice Forest

The Niepołomice Forest is one of the largest woodland complexes in Lesser Poland, situated east of Kraków, near Niepołomice. Historically it was a royal hunting ground.

Location and surroundings

It lies in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, close to Niepołomice and Kraków.

Natural assets

In the Poszyna wilderness operates the Bison Breeding Centre of the Niepołomice Forest District (established in 1925), which conducts species protection of the Białowieża-Caucasian line of bison. Bison can be observed from an observation deck.
