Napiwoda-Ramuki Forest

The Napiwoda-Ramuki Forest is one of the largest forest complexes in Poland, covering an area of 117,319.9 ha, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship between Olsztyn, Olsztynek, Nidzica, Szczytno and Pasym (Olsztyn, Ostróda, Nidzica and Szczytno counties).

Characteristics

It is a vast, compact complex of pine forests, a remnant of the former Galindian Forest. Pine dominates, with a share of spruce, birch, beech, oak and hornbeam.

Nature protection

The forest contains 11 nature reserves (including Kośno Lake - 1,248.8 ha, Warmian Forest - 1,815.9 ha). The Natura 2000 site "Puszcza Napiwodzko-Ramucka" (PLB280007) ranks as a European bird refuge.
