Niemodlin Woodlands

The Niemodlin Woodlands are the largest forest complex in the western part of the upper Oder basin, covering an area of about 48,190 ha, in the Opole Voivodeship. They are a remnant of the former Silesian Forest Belt (Przesieka Śląska). The tree stand includes sessile oak, spruce, pine, hornbeam, fir and European larch.

Nature conservation

Since 1988 it has been a protected landscape area (the second largest in the Opole Voivodeship). The Jaśkowice nature reserve is located here, along with one of the last sites of the European pond turtle in Poland. It is an important breeding ground for the bittern, the black stork and the Ural owl.
