Turbacz

Location and surroundings

Turbacz (1,310 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Gorce Mountains, built of Carpathian flysch and situated in the central part of the range. It borders several municipalities (including Łopuszna, Waksmund and Obidowa). The summit itself lies outside the boundaries of Gorce National Park, whose border runs along the eastern and northern sides.

What to see

Just below the summit (1,283 m) there is a large PTTK mountain hut, open since 1958, with over a hundred beds. After windfalls, the views to the north and west have been restored; the peak is a hub of many hiking trails.

Who it is for

The relatively gentle approaches make Turbacz an accessible destination for families and less advanced hikers.
