Szczeliniec Wielki (919 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Table Mountains (Góry Stołowe), within the Table Mountains National Park. The ascent starts from the village of Karłów (Radków municipality, Kłodzko County).
The summit is built of weathering Upper Cretaceous sandstones, forming picturesque rock formations with fanciful names (e.g. the Great-Grandfather's Armchair). A specific microclimate prevails in the rock corridors, where snow can linger even into July.
Stone steps lead to the summit (built in 1814, about 680 steps). A circular route of about 5 km runs across the top; the PTTK mountain hut "Na Szczelińcu" (from 1846) is in operation.
The route requires climbing numerous steps but is accessible to hikers of average fitness; attractive for families who enjoy rock formations.
