Biskupia Kopa

Location and surroundings

Biskupia Kopa (about 889-890 m above sea level) is the highest elevation on the Polish side of the Opawskie Mountains (Eastern Sudetes) and the highest point of the Opole Voivodeship, although the summit itself lies on the Czech side. On the Polish side the area belongs to Jarnołtówek (Głuchołazy municipality, Nysa County).

What to see

On the summit stands a stone observation tower from 1898 (originally the Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Warte), about 18 m high. The summit has served as a border point for centuries - from 1229 it separated bishoprics, later the Habsburg and Hohenzollern lands, and today marks the Polish-Czech border.
