Góra Kamieńsk

Location and surroundings

Góra Kamieńsk (about 386-406 m above sea level according to various measurements) is the highest hill of the Łódź Voivodeship and one of the highest points of central Poland. It is an artificial hill - the external spoil heap of the "Bełchatów" Brown Coal Mine, in the Kamieńsk municipality (Radomsko County). Its relative height is about 195 m.

History of formation

It was piled up from overburden (about 1,350 million m3) from June 1977 to November 1993. Its current name was established in 1999.

What to see

At the top there is a wind power plant, and on the slopes a sports and recreation centre with artificial ski runs, a chairlift and lifts as well as cycling trails.

A recreational destination - skiing in winter, cycling and walks in summer.
