Świnica

Świnica (2,302 m above sea level according to a 2022 measurement) is one of the most characteristic peaks of the High Tatras, lying on the Polish-Slovak border. It is a junction peak with two summits: the main one (2,302 m) and the north-western one (2,291 m), separated by the Lower Świnica Gap. The state border runs across the main summit.

Character

It is considered one of the most beautiful and harder-to-reach peaks of the Polish Tatras accessible by a tourist trail. It offers a broad panorama of the Tatras.

Trails

  • Black from Hala Gąsienicowa via Liliowe to the Świnica Pass
  • Red from Kasprowy Wierch via Liliowe and the Świnica Pass
  • Red one-way from Zawrat (ascent only, since 1 June 2021)

Seasonality and hours

An exposed trail, secured with chains; recommended for experienced hikers. Best season: summer.

Getting there

Ascent from the Kuźnice / Hala Gąsienicowa side (Zakopane) or by cable car to Kasprowy Wierch.

Seasonality: year-round (difficult trail in winter)
