Mroźna Cave

Mroźna Cave is the only fully tourist-accessible cave in the Polish Tatra Mountains. It lies on the eastern slope of the Kościeliska Valley, in the Organy massif, about 120 m above the valley floor. The cave is 773 m long; the entrance is at an altitude of 1,100 m above sea level and the exit at 1,112 m.

Location and surroundings

The cave is located in the Tatra National Park, in the Kościelisko municipality. The approach along the black trail from the Stare Kościeliska Clearing takes about 20-30 minutes.

Natural value

It is a typical horizontal cave, carved out by underground water, with dripstone formations: stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone and cave draperies. The most attractive formations are in the chamber next to the Garden. The name refers to the neighbouring Zimna (Cold) Cave.

Who it's for

The tourist route is about 500 m. Since 2023, following renovation, the cave is unlit - your own torch is required and a helmet is recommended.
