Wierzchowska Górna Cave

Wierzchowska Górna Cave is the longest tourist-accessible cave in Poland, located in the village of Wierzchowie in the Kluczwoda Valley in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The total length of the corridors is 975 m, with a tourist route of 700 m; the vertical range is 25 m. It has three entrances (390, 388 and 399 m above sea level).

Location and surroundings

The cave is located in the Wielka Wieś municipality, about 1 km from national road no. 94. It was formed as a karst feature in Upper Jurassic limestones. The air temperature is about 7.8°C.

Natural value

The route runs, among others, through the Long Passage to the largest chamber - the Ballroom. It is the second longest cave of the Upland. The site is protected as a natural monument, within the Kraków Valleys Landscape Park and the Natura 2000 area PLH120005 "Dolinki Jurajskie".

Visits are only with a guide, taking about 50 minutes.
