Lake Łebsko

Location and surroundings

Łebsko is a coastal lake in the Pomeranian Voivodeship (municipalities of Wicko and Smołdzino), within the Słowiński National Park. The Łeba river, which flows into the Baltic, passes through the lake. To the north it is separated from the sea by the Łeba Spit with its shifting dunes.

Natural features

Area of about 71.4 km², the third largest lake in Poland and the largest coastal lake in the country. A shallow lake (average about 1.6 m), of polymictic character, periodically fed by brackish water from the Baltic. The area is covered by the UNESCO biosphere reserve and the Ramsar Convention; an important bird refuge.

Entry to the Słowiński National Park requires a ticket. Trails to the dunes lead among others from the direction of Łeba (Rąbka).
