Chańcza Reservoir

Location and surroundings

The Chańcza Reservoir is a storage reservoir on the Czarna Staszowska River, in the south-eastern part of Świętokrzyskie Province, on the border of Kielce and Staszów counties. It is the largest body of water in the province. Its surroundings lie next to the Cisów-Orłowiny Landscape Park and the Chmielnik-Szydłów Protected Landscape Area.

Natural and tourist value

Its area is about 340 ha, maximum capacity about 40 million m³, with depths ranging from around 11 m at the dam to below 3 m at the northern ends. The reservoir plays an important recreational role - in season there are guarded bathing areas, water sports (canoes, pedal boats, windsurfing) and angling.
