Bison Show Reserve of BPN

A show reserve in the Bialowieza Forest, presenting the species of the primeval forest in conditions close to natural. The symbol of Bialowieza National Park is the European bison - the largest land mammal in Europe.

Location and surroundings

The reserve lies on the Hajnowka-Bialowieza road, about 3 km before Bialowieza, in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. BPN is the first Polish natural site inscribed on the UNESCO list.

What to see / Natural values

  • A herd of bison, as well as elk, red deer, roe deer and wild boar
  • Wolf and lynx in separate enclosures
  • Tarpan-type horses and zubron (bison-cattle hybrids)
  • Educational pavilion (opened 2018) with a multimedia exhibition about the bison
