Janow Forests Landscape Park

A park established in 1984 in the extensive Janow Forests, with 6 nature reserves. It protects one of the larger forest complexes of south-eastern Poland.

Location and surroundings

The park lies in the Lublin Voivodeship, near Janow Lubelski.

What to see / Natural values

  • Imielty Lug reserve (approx. 804 ha) - raised and transitional peat bogs, ponds and marshes, one of the largest reserves in the region
  • Observation tower on Duza Grepa
  • Porytowe Hill - site of the largest partisan battle of the Second World War
  • Educational trails (including a 2-km one in Imielty Lug, the Szklarnia reserve)
