Szczecin Landscape Park "Beech Forest"

The Szczecin Landscape Park "Beech Forest" (also called the Beech Hills) was established on 4 November 1981. It protects a compact complex of beech forests on the morainic Beech Hills to the south and east of Szczecin.

Area and location

The park lies mostly within the municipality of Stare Czarnowo, partly within the boundaries of the city of Szczecin and the municipality of Gryfino. The buffer zone amounts to 11,842 ha.

Natural values

Fertile beech woods dominate, covering the undulating morainic terrain with numerous lakes, springs and wetlands. Within the park there are several nature reserves protecting old-growth beech stands and peatlands.
