Chełmy Landscape Park

Chełmy Landscape Park was established on 29 June 1992 as the first landscape park of the former Legnica Voivodeship. It protects the eastern part of the Kaczawa Foothills with numerous relics of former volcanic activity.

Area and location

The park covers 15,990.76 ha, and the buffer zone 12,470.83 ha. It lies within the municipalities of Paszowice, Męcinka and Złotoryja (Jawor and Złotoryja Counties).

Natural values

Characteristic features are basalt monadnocks and basalt columns, Tertiary basalt outcrops and deep ravines. Forests occupy about 55% of the area. There are five nature reserves and a Natura 2000 site within the park.
