The Bóbr Valley Landscape Park was established on 16 November 1989. It protects the picturesque valley of the Bóbr River at the meeting point of the Izera Foothills, the Kaczawa Foothills and the Kaczawa Mountains.
The park covers 10,943 ha, and the buffer zone 12,552 ha. It stretches across seven municipalities: Jelenia Góra, Jeżów Sudecki, Lubomierz, Lwówek Śląski, Stara Kamienica, Świerzawa and Wleń (Karkonosze, Lwówek and Złotoryja Counties).
The landscape is formed by the Bóbr valley with numerous reservoirs and castles. Forests (oak-hornbeam and oak woods) occupy about 32% of the area. The Góra Zamkowa (Castle Hill) reserve is located within the park.
