Owl Mountains Landscape Park

The Owl Mountains Landscape Park was established in 1991 (enlarged in 1996). It protects the highest range of the Central Sudetes - the Owl Mountains - with its highest peak, Wielka Sowa (Great Owl, 1,015 m a.s.l.).

Area and location

The park covers 81.41 km². It lies within seven municipalities: Pieszyce, Bielawa, Dzierżoniów, Głuszyca, Walim, Stoszowice and Nowa Ruda (Kłodzko, Wałbrzych, Dzierżoniów and Ząbkowice Counties).

Natural values

A mountain landscape with ravines, waterfalls and high-mountain valleys. Forests occupy 94% of the area - spruce forests, beech woods and mixed forests. The Bukowa Kalenica reserve protects dwarf beech woods.
