Warta Valley Landscape Park

The Warta Valley Landscape Park (Nadwarciański) was established on 19 October 1995. It protects the Warta valley - one of Poland's most valuable refuges for water and marsh birds.

Area and location

The park covers 134.28 km² (13,428 ha). It lies within the municipalities of Pyzdry, Zagórów, Lądek, Rzgów and Golina.

Natural value

A post-glacial landscape with the broad ancient valley of the Warta, numerous oxbow lakes, meadows and wetlands. In 1995 it was recognised by BirdLife International as a bird refuge of global importance. Over 230 bird species occur here.
