Ciężkowicko-Rożnowski Landscape Park

Ciężkowicko-Rożnowski Landscape Park was established on 16 November 1995. It protects the Ciężkowice and Rożnów Foothills between the valleys of the Dunajec and Biała rivers.

Area and location

The park covers 182.47 km² (18,247.2 ha). It lies within the municipalities of Ciężkowice, Zakliczyn, Rzepiennik Strzyżewski, Gromnik and Czchów.

Natural values

The hills are built mainly of flysch with numerous rock outcrops. The flagship site is the Skamieniałe Miasto (Petrified Town) reserve in Ciężkowice. There are two reserves, over 900 species of vascular plants, black storks, woodpeckers and bats; there are also mineral water springs.
