Ciśniańsko-Wetliński Landscape Park

Ciśniańsko-Wetliński Landscape Park was established in 1992. It protects the western Bieszczady Mountains and forms the buffer zone of the Bieszczady National Park to the west.

Area and location

The park covers 51,461 ha (514.61 km²). It lies within the municipalities of Komańcza, Zagórz, Cisna, Baligród, Solina and Czarna.

Natural values

The park protects the altitudinal zonation of mountain vegetation, with the highest peaks reaching about 1,200 m. Forests occupy 83% of the area. There are seven reserves (including yew reserves), and bears, wolves, lynxes and wildcats live here. Since 1992 it has been part of the "Eastern Carpathians" International Biosphere Reserve.
