San Valley Landscape Park

San Valley Landscape Park was established in 1992. It protects the valley of the San in the western Bieszczady and the Otryt range, forming the buffer zone of the Bieszczady National Park.

Area and location

The park covers 277.28 km². It lies within the municipalities of Czarna, Lutowiska and Solina.

Natural values

The park encompasses the San valley from Beniowa to Lake Solina and the Otryt range. About 80% of the area is covered by forests, mainly Carpathian beech woods with old-growth over 100 years old. European bison, bears and lynxes live here. The park is part of the "Eastern Carpathians" International Biosphere Reserve.
