Wel Landscape Park was established on 18 December 1995. It protects the valley of the Wel river and the surrounding natural, historical and cultural values in the south-western part of the voivodeship.
The park covers 200.23 km², and its buffer zone 162.83 km². It lies within the town of Lidzbark and the municipalities of Rybno, Lidzbark, Płośnica (Działdowo County) and Grodziczno (Nowe Miasto County).
The park encompasses the valley of the Wel river with sandy outwash plains, morainic uplands, subglacial channels and 13 large glacial lakes (including Lake Grądy).
Base in Lidzbark and Rybno.
The area is accessible all year round; canoeing trips on the Wel.
