Polesie Landscape Park

The Polesie Landscape Park was established in 1983. It protects the wet plains, meadows and peat bogs of Lublin Polesie; in 1990 it became the nucleus of Polesie National Park.

Area and location

The park covers 51.13 km², with a buffer zone of 169.54 km². It lies within the municipalities of Urszulin, Stary Brus and Sosnowica.

Natural values

Water covers about 15% of the area. Characteristic features are peat bogs, lakes and pond complexes (including near Stary Brus) with rich birdlife. The park protects the flora of the Atlantic zone and the habitats of wetland birds.
