Knyszyn Forest Landscape Park named after Prof. Witold Sławiński

The Knyszyn Forest Landscape Park was established in 1988. It protects one of the largest contiguous forest complexes in Poland - the Knyszyn Forest.

Area and location

The park covers 728.60 km², with a buffer zone of 538.27 km². It lies within 11 municipalities, including Janów, Sokółka, Knyszyn, Czarna Białostocka and Supraśl.

Natural values

Forests cover 78% of the area - pine and spruce-pine forests, oak woods, riparian forests and alder carrs. The central axis is the Supraśl valley. Characteristic is the varied post-glacial relief with moraines, eskers and kettle holes, along with extensive peat bogs.
