Białowieża National Park

The Białowieża National Park protects the best-preserved fragment of the Białowieża Forest - the last natural lowland forest of primeval type on the European Plain. It is the oldest national park in Poland (established in 1932, reactivated in 1947).

Location and surroundings

The park is located in eastern Poland (Podlaskie Voivodeship), at the border with Belarus. It is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List; a transboundary park exists on the Belarusian side.
