Babia Góra National Park

Babia Góra National Park protects the massif of Babia Góra - the highest peak of the Western Beskids. Established in 1954, it covers around 34 km². It has been a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1977.

Location and surroundings

The park lies in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, on the border with Slovakia; its headquarters are in Zawoja.

What to see / natural highlights

  • Diablak (1725 m) - the highest peak of Babia Góra
  • Classically developed vegetation zones (from the forest zone to the alpine zone)
  • Mountain meadows and dwarf pine in the higher parts
