Wigry National Park

Wigry National Park protects the nature of the Suwałki-Augustów Lakeland, with Lake Wigry as its central feature. Established in 1989, it covers about 151 km², including 42 lakes.

Location and surroundings

The park lies in the Podlaskie Province, near Suwałki; its headquarters are in Krzywe.

What to see / natural values

  • Lake Wigry (about 2,187 ha) - one of the largest and deepest lakes in the region
  • The former Camaldolese monastery in Wigry (on the lakeshore)
