Sopot Beach

The municipal beach in Sopot stretches along the entire seaside resort on the Gulf of Gdańsk. Its central point is the famous pier - the longest wooden pier in Europe, whose promenade section is about 511.5 m long, of which 458 m extends into the waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk.

Location and surroundings

The beach lies in the heart of the Tricity, in Sopot (Pomeranian Province). The pier divides the beach into a northern part (towards Gdynia) and a southern part (towards Gdańsk). The current pier structure dates from 1927-1928; the first jetty was built by Dr Jerzy Haffner in 1827.
