The Korzeniowy Dół Ravine

Korzeniowy Dół is a picturesque loess ravine near Kazimierz Dolny, protected as a natural monument. It is famous for the exposed tree roots wrapping around the ravine walls, from which it takes its name (roughly "Root Hollow").

Location and surroundings

The ravine is located approx. 2 km from the market square in Kazimierz Dolny; the entrance is near the "Przystanek Korzeniowa" café. It lies within the Kazimierz Landscape Park.

Natural value

  • A so-called hollow way – a feature formed from a road deepened by erosion
  • Loess walls reaching several metres in height
  • Exposed tree roots creating a distinctive scenery
  • Trail length approx. 0.5 km, slightly uphill
