Jagiełło's Oak

The most famous oak of the Białowieża Forest. According to legend (created by Jan Jerzy Karpiński), King Władysław II Jagiełło rested beneath the oak before the hunt preceding the Grunwald campaign.

  • Age under 450 years

Condition

The tree was toppled by a windstorm on 2 November 1974. The decaying trunk can be seen in the Białowieża National Park. It is reached by the 4-kilometre "To Jagiełło's Oak" trail.
