Mszczonów Boulder

A boulder in the village of Zawady – the largest glacial erratic in Mazovia and the second largest in Poland (after Trygław). Light-grey sandstone with a siliceous cement dating from the Miocene.

Characteristics and protection

  • Circumference: approx. 40 m
  • Natural monument since 1990.

A so-called raft (porwak) – torn from the bedrock by the ice sheet. Longitudinal glacial striations are visible on its surface.
