Black Poplar in Melsztyn

A black poplar (Populus nigra) in Melsztyn, probably the oldest specimen of the species in Poland. It grows by the road leading to the castle ruins in Melsztyn.

  • Circumference: approx. 788 cm (860 cm without the mound; 2020)
  • Height: approx. 36 m
  • Age over 220 years

Protection

Natural monument established on 23 February 1933. The crown was reduced around 2010.
