Sokolica (747 m above sea level) is one of the most famous viewpoints of the Pieniny National Park, located in the central part of the Pieniny Mountains above the Dunajec Gorge.
The peak lies in the Krościenko nad Dunajcem municipality (Nowy Targ County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship) and is built of weathering-resistant hornstone limestone. Its southern rock walls fall almost vertically into an approximately 310-metre precipice towards the Dunajec valley.
From the summit there is a panorama of the Dunajec Gorge, the Central Pieniny, the Little Pieniny, the Spiš region and the Tatra ranges (the White and High Tatras). The landmark is a relict pine growing on the rocky summit, along with rare limestone-loving flora.
For hikers who value mountain panoramas; the final stretch is a path secured with metal railings.
