Trzy Korony

Trzy Korony (982 m above sea level) is the highest and most distinctive peak of the Pieniny Mountains, built of hornstone limestone and forming five rocky pinnacles.

Location and surroundings

The peak is located in the Pieniny National Park; the highest pinnacle is Okrąglica (982 m above sea level), whose wall drops more than 500 m towards the Dunajec valley. At its southern foot, in Sromowce Niżne, the PTTK "Trzy Korony" mountain hut operates.

What to see / natural values

On the Okrąglica pinnacle a viewing platform with metal galleries and stairs with railings has been built (holding approx. 30 people). From here there is a view of the Dunajec Gorge, the Pieniny National Park, and the Tatras, the Beskid Sądecki, the Gorce, the Beskid Żywiecki and the Spiš Magura.

Visiting

  • The shortest approach: from Sromowce Niżne through the Szopczański Gorge.
  • A viewing platform on Okrąglica with metal galleries and stairs.

  • Fees for entering the platform are charged seasonally (approx. 20 April - 31 October).
  • The site lies within the Pieniny National Park.
