Dunajec Gorge in the Pieniny

The Dunajec Gorge in the Pieniny is a picturesque stretch of the Dunajec valley in the Pieniny Proper, between Sromowce Niżne and Szczawnica. The gorge is about 8 km long, and the surrounding rock walls reach about 300 m in height.

Location and surroundings

The site lies in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within the Pieniny National Park. The gorge is built of Pieniny limestones from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
