Lake Żywiec is a retention reservoir on the Soła River near Żywiec, created after the construction of an earth dam at Tresna (the reservoir was formed in 1966). It lies on the boundary of the Żywiec Basin and the Little Beskids.
The reservoir lies in the Silesian Voivodeship, in Żywiec County. Its area is about 10 km², maximum depth around 26.8 m, and total capacity about 94.6 million m³. The earth dam is 310 m long and 39 m high.
For sailors, holidaymakers and water sports enthusiasts.
The reservoir is used for recreation, energy production, flood protection and regulating inflow to the upper Vistula.
The tourist season falls in summer.
