Lake Czchowskie (Czchów Reservoir)

Lake Czchowskie is a dam reservoir on the Dunajec river, created by damming the waters with a concrete dam in Czchów. Its area is about 346 ha, the length of the shoreline 23 km, the total capacity about 12 million m³ and the maximum depth 9.5 m.

Functions

The reservoir serves as a compensating basin for the higher-lying Lake Rożnowskie. Construction of the dam began in 1938, and the whole was completed in the 1940s and 1950s. Turbines of the Czchów hydroelectric plant were installed in the dam.

Tourism

The shores of the lake serve a recreational and tourist function; the body of water is popular among anglers and water-sports enthusiasts.
