Sosnówka Reservoir

The Sosnówka Reservoir is an artificial drinking-water and retention reservoir in the southern part of the Jelenia Góra Valley, put into service in 2001. It lies in the Podgórzyn municipality, between Sosnówka and Marczyce, a few kilometres from Jelenia Góra and Karpacz.

Parameters

Its area is about 145-170 ha, its capacity up to 14 million m3, its length 1.2 km and its width 1 km. Construction lasted from 1986 to 2001. The reservoir is fed by the Podgórna, Czerwonka and Sośniak streams.

Tourism

The reservoir does not serve as a bathing area (swimming is prohibited), yet from it and from the surrounding hills - including from the Castle of Prince Henry - an impressive panorama of the Karkonosze Mountains opens up.
