Bukówka Reservoir (Lake Bukowskie)

The Bukówka Reservoir is a dammed reservoir in the valley of the Bóbr River, in the Lubawka municipality. It was originally created between 1903 and 1907 as a dry retention reservoir after a 25.5 m high dam was built, and was enlarged between 1978 and 1989 by a side dam protecting Miszkowice.

Parameters

At maximum impoundment the area is about 199 ha, the capacity about 16.9 million m3, and the average depth 27 m. Its location at an altitude of 537.10 m above sea level makes it one of the highest-situated dammed reservoirs in Poland.

Functions

The reservoir effectively fulfils a flood-protection function - during the flood of July 1997 it reduced the first wave by about 87%.
