Rybnik Lake (Rybnik Reservoir)

Rybnik Lake is a reservoir created by damming the Ruda river with a dam in Rybnik-Stodoły. Its surface area is about 4.5 km2 and its volume 22 million m3. The reservoir was put into service in December 1971 as an investment accompanying the Rybnik Power Plant (cooling of power units).

Tourism

Thanks to the heating of the water, the sailing season on the Rybnik Reservoir was one of the longest in Poland (April-October). The 7 km long reservoir attracts sailors, canoeists and windsurfers; sailing clubs, a scout station and recreation centres operate around it.
