Drwęca River (canoeing trail)

The Drwęca flows from the eastern slopes of Mount Dylewska and runs through the Warmian-Masurian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeships, emptying into the Vistula near Toruń. It is the only river in Poland protected as a reserve along its entire length - since 1961 it has been the Drwęca River ichthyological nature reserve, the longest of its kind in the country.

Character of the trail

The trail is highly varied - it leads through forests, fields, meadows and vast marshes, passing Ostróda, Brodnica and Golub-Dobrzyń. From a canoeist's point of view it is an easy route, considered the third most attractive in the region after the Brda and the Wda.

Nature

The Drwęca protects, among others, sea trout, salmon, vimba bream and river lamprey.
