Witches' Waterfall

The Witches' Waterfall, also called the Ciężkowice Waterfall, is located in the Ciężkowice Ravine (Witches' Ravine) in Ciężkowice, in the Ciężkowice Foothills mesoregion. It is a stepped waterfall with two thresholds built of Ciężkowice sandstone; its total height is 14 m.

Location and surroundings

It is set in a deep rock cleft (Witches' Ravine) over 40 m long, with sandstone walls 15-20 m high. Since 1968 it has been an inanimate nature monument named "Jar Wodospad" (Waterfall Ravine).

What to see

The stepped waterfall and the picturesque ravine; in winter, during frosts, a spectacular ice cascade forms. The Petrified Town (Skamieniałe Miasto) reserve is nearby.
